Who operates Mind Brewery?
Mind Brewery is operated by LXQ Digital Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13668398). LXQ Digital Limited is the controller responsible for personal information processed through this website. For privacy requests, please use our contact form, which routes messages to our email inbox.
Information we process
Technical logs: Our hosting provider processes IP addresses, request dates and URLs, user agents and error/security information to operate and secure the site. Hosting access and error logs are retained for approximately 30 days, subject to the provider's operational arrangements.
Optional first-party analytics: If you accept analytics, we collect events such as pageviews, article reading depth, searches, sharing and article continuations, together with a pseudonymous session hash, page path, referring page, device category and relevant event details. Search analytics can include the search terms you submit. Raw analytics records are retained for up to six months.
Contact messages: When you contact us, your name, email address, subject and message are delivered to us by email; the application does not maintain a separate contact-message database. Correspondence is normally retained for three years after it ceases to be needed for an actionable purpose.
Administration and security: Authorised staff accounts and an audit trail record administrative and plugin activity. Audit entries, including pseudonymous IP-related information, are retained for up to 12 months.
Lawful bases
We rely on legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure publication, maintaining administrative accountability, responding to readers and correcting content; consent for optional analytics; and legal obligation where processing is required by law. We balance legitimate interests against the rights and expectations of affected individuals.
Service providers and locations
Our web hosting, database and website email are supplied by RackNerd and are hosted in Germany. Germany is within the European Economic Area, to which UK data-protection adequacy arrangements apply. Our contact page uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to reduce spam; interacting with that page may result in information being processed by Google, including outside the UK. See Google's privacy policy. Third-party infrastructure and routing may involve additional locations; provider-specific transfer arrangements should be confirmed where relevant.
Cookies and browser storage
The site uses a secure session cookie for functionality including reading continuation and administrative authentication; local storage for cookie choices and the requested colour theme; and, with your consent, first-party analytics. Details appear in our cookie policy.
Backups
Database backups are created daily and stored in the hosting account in Germany. We retain seven daily and four weekly backups. Copies may contain personal information present in the database at the time of backup and can therefore outlast the live-record deletion schedule briefly.
Advertising and newsletter
We currently use no advertising network and do not offer an active newsletter subscription service. If either is introduced, this notice and relevant consent choices will be revised before activation.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure or restriction of your personal data; object to certain legitimate-interest processing; request portability where applicable; or withdraw analytics consent at any time. To make a request, use the contact form. We may need to verify your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change, and seek fresh consent where it is legally needed.
